They are the ruins of modern times: Half-fallen palaces of leisure, idle factories, dilapidated hospitals and deserted military sites exude a morbid charm. Irish journalist Ciarán Fahey has photographed the most fascinating and spectacular of these abandoned places in and around Berlin and researched their histories.
