China is the third largest country in the world and one of the largest economies in the world. Since the economic opening in the 1980s, there has been a continuous economic rise in the country. In the process, the country has left behind the role of an extended workbench and is focusing on building up high-tech industries. Vocational education and training, which is seen as the engine of the Chinese economy, reflects the countrys economic transformation and goes through various phases, from the establishment and introduction of new structures to stabilisation and quality assurance. Despite the many reforms in VET, it still faces some challenges.
