Perennials and their Living Areas This book by Richard Hansen and Friedrich Stahl is a standard reference work in the use of perennials and is held in high regard by experts. The classification of perennials in the areas of shrubs, woodland borders, open spaces, rocky areas, beds, along the edge of water, marshy areas and water is still regarded as an important foundation of teaching and practice. The concern of the authors - using as many near-natural low-maintenance plants as possible - does nothing to lessen the books topicality. In a detailed introduction, Swantje Duthweiler assesses the work from a modern perspective and bridges the gap to modern day of perennial use.
